Mema is a contraction of the Filipino words "mayroong masasabi" (something to say). In Filipino vernacular language, "mema" is used to describe someone who merely blurts out words even if it is out-of-line or out-of-topic.
In this blog, it is used to allude to what one has to say or write about a topic of interest, given that in this fast-paced post-modern world, there usually is little time to discuss things with people.
Mameng is a feisty Biday. She is probably 25% Igorota, 25% Ilokana, 40% Bikolana with hints of Spanish-Chinese Mestiza, but 100% Filipina.
To her lolo's (grandfather) suprise, Mameng became an Architect and an academic (nerd) at the University of the Philippines. Her passion lies in Disaster Risk Reduction, Cultural Heritage Preservation and Pre-Colonial Filipino Architecture.
